We all need to discuss plans for coronavirus. We know that the media is on the extremes of acting like it’s nothing or acting like it’s the end of the world.
However, we are reading posts from doctors who are actually working in the thick of it in Italy and Seattle. This thing starts out one here, one there. Then suddenly hospitals are overwhelmed. This impacts not only those who are affected with the virus, but also everyone else in the community. When hospital beds are filled and staff are overwhelmed with isolation patients on respirators, there is no room or resources for those with flair ups of chronic illnesses, injuries from accidents, and other serious emergencies.
The best thing to do is to slow down the spread, which means limiting social gatherings. Waiting until our community is hit with confirmed cases won’t work, we have to limit social gatherings preemptively to slow the spread. Yoga classes are part of that. The Prajja Center teachers have discussed this and we cannot in good faith continue holding classes where most of our students are of the age that are most heavily impacted by this.
We will have no classes or workshops until further notice. Classes will resume, but likely not for a few weeks until this community is clear of any outbreak.
You can help your community and your family by frequent handwashing, ordering groceries online for pickup, limiting your visits to crowded spaces, and refraining from touching your face when you are in public.
Boost your immune system with lots of water, plenty of rest balanced with healthy activity, meditation, breath practices, and lots of fruits and vegetables.
We will be in touch when it’s time for classes to resume. Please stay safe and healthy.
