We’ve put together the most common questions we had as new yoga students. If you have any questions not answered here please use the contact form at the bottom of the page to reach out.
I’M TOO STIFF TO DO YOGA!
There is a joke among yoga teachers that saying you are too stiff to do yoga is like saying you are too dirty to take a shower. The practice of learning yoga is what allows you to stop feeling stiff as you stretch your muscles and improve your flexibility. It starts out slow, but you will be amazed at how quickly your body adapts to the practice. You’ll also be amazed at how much better you feel after just a few weeks of practicing.
CAN I JUST DROP IN TO A CLASS?
Our community space can comfortably accommodate up to 20 students. We do not anticipate classes filling to their max, so at this point we are a drop in studio. We’ll let everyone know if that ever changes!
WHY AREN’T THERE PACKAGES?
As a community based yoga teacher, I had a few primary goals in mind when setting the structure for this space. One of those goals was to ensure that all teachers in this space are able to generate an income that honors the effort and energy they put into designing and teaching classes. Teachers spend hours designing their class sequences, making new playlists, and supporting students before and after class. For any one hour class, your teacher has likely invested at least 2 hours in addition to the time you see them in the studio.
For this reason, we will honor a $10 per class policy. Prajja Center credit can be purchased to eliminate the hassle of paying each time you come, or you can pay as you go. It’s entirely up to you.You can purchase punchcards or a single class pass by clicking here
, or with cash/check in the center.
Having said that, almost every single teacher here has at one point or another been a student who needed yoga but could not afford it. If you have financial issues that prevent you from attending at the regular price, PLEASE email me to discuss options. We all want to help you find healing, and we’ve all been there before.
WHAT DO I WEAR? WHAT SHOULD I BRING?
You can do yoga in your pajamas, you can do yoga in your comfy yoga pants, you can do yoga in anything really, though jeans and restrictive clothing aren’t recommended! Do know that we remove shoes when entering the space and socks tend to make it hard to practice, so plan to be barefoot during class.
If you have a mat, bring it in with you. If you don’t have one, no worries- we have extras! We also supply the blocks, bolsters, eye pillows, and other goodies to help you make the practice customized to your own body and needs.
I’M RUNNING LATE OR NEED TO LEAVE EARLY!
Sometimes traffic gets in the way or scheduling makes it so that you have to leave a tiny bit early. We just ask that you come in (or leave) as quietly as possible. If you are getting to class late, text your teacher and they’ll get the needed props set up for you. If you are leaving early, let them know before class and then just leave your props behind- we’re happy to tidy up in those situations.
WHAT SHOULD I DO WITH MY PHONE DURING CLASS?
Yoga is a time of healing and finding peace. For that reason, we ask that you turn off your phone during class. If you have an urgent issue that requires you to keep it on, please keep it silent and step outside if you need to answer a call.
I HAVE A CHRONIC ILLNESS OR PAIN, CAN I STILL PRACTICE YOGA?
A few of our teachers have chronic illnesses, too! You can certainly practice, though depending on your condition you may need certain modifications. Please reach out to Trishia via [email protected] (or with the form below) to find a time to chat about your needs and get recommendations.
